Rezelio is built for children. That fact shapes every decision we make — from how accounts are structured to how the AI tutor behaves. This page explains how we protect the young people on our platform.

Child safety is not a legal checkbox for us. It is the reason the platform is designed the way it is. We have made deliberate, sometimes inconvenient choices — like not requiring email addresses for young children, and not integrating any advertising — because protecting children matters more than convenience or commercial optimisation.
We comply with the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR), the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), and the principles of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We will update our practices as regulations evolve and as we learn more about how to do this better.
Children aged 7–14 (Explorers and Builders) do not have email addresses on Rezelio. They log in with a name and a PIN. That is it. No inbox, no password reset flow, no email marketing — because there is no email to target.
Explorers and Builders cannot create their own accounts. A parent, guardian, or school administrator must create the account on their behalf. This means every child account on the platform has an accountable adult behind it.
Pioneers (ages 15–19) can self-register, but their date of birth is verified using month and day accuracy at registration. Anyone outside the eligible age range cannot complete the registration flow.
Every user on the platform can only see their own data. A student cannot view another student's profile, progress, or wallet. Parents can only see the data of children linked to their account. This is enforced at the database level using Row Level Security — it is not just a UI restriction.
Passwords and PINs are hashed using bcrypt. This means that even if our database were compromised, the actual passwords and PINs could not be recovered — by attackers or by us.
Zelio, our AI tutor, is powered by Anthropic's Claude. It is not a general-purpose chatbot. Its behaviour is constrained by a strict set of pedagogy rules that cannot be disabled or bypassed by users.
API calls to Anthropic include only lesson context and the student's message. No child name, email address, or platform identifier is included in what is sent to the external API.
The Marketplace allows students to create and sell items using their in-platform coin balance. All listings go through an admin review before becoming visible to other students. Listings are rejected if they contain:
The Marketplace operates entirely within the platform's virtual coin economy. No real money changes hands between students.
Parents and guardians can:
Pioneers (ages 15–19) who self-register manage their own accounts. A Pioneer can choose to link a parent's email address, which gives that parent visibility into their activity. This is always the Pioneer's choice — not something a parent can initiate unilaterally.
If you see something on the platform that concerns you — a listing in the Marketplace, something Zelio said, a concern about your child's account, or anything else — please contact us immediately.

Subject line: Safety concern
We treat all safety reports as urgent. We will acknowledge your message within 24 hours and investigate promptly.
For any question about child safety, data handling, or platform concerns — however small — please reach out. We would rather hear about something that turns out to be nothing than miss something important.
